Although he has a never-exhausted archive of classic gaming stories at any given time, Marc is taking a break from Co-Op Classics today to let Jim reminisce and appreciate Konami's Jackal.

Halo: Reach is on the horizon, and any time we can scrounge up some news pertaining to co-op...we jump on it like a Grunt on a crate of plasma grenades. Unfortunately, just about all of our co-op details so far have come from interviews, hints, and speculations. Today is no different, but bringing Reach back to the front page is a treat anyway - seeing Bungie so focused on bringing a true Halo opus to fans gives Co-Optimus hope for a seamlessly epic co-op game.

We recently had the chance to play through a few levels of the upcoming four-player co-op shooter, The Scourge Project. While we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked, what we did see made us eager for more.

The Virtual Boy jokes will be a plenty until someone actually gets some hands on time with the device, but Nintendo has announced a brand new Nintendo DS coming sometime in Fiscal Year 2011 called the the Nintendo 3DS.   The device will be fully compatible with DS and DSi games but sport a 3D display that will require no glasses to experience.

Valve has currently slashed the price of the Steam version of Left 4 Dead 2 fifty percent, making the cost to you just $25.  Even the four pack of the game, which is normally $150, is half off, making each copy cost you just $18.75.   Xbox 360 owners, you aren't left out to die though paying full price, Amazon currently has the game on sale for $36.  Both sales end tomorrow though.

With a release date of May 18th, the hype train for Lost Planet 2 is in full motion, and I for one will be at the station come release day.  In recent weeks we have had trailers, footage, and previews, but what is also apparent is that this game will have more skins than a snake charmer’s terrarium.

The following deal was acquired through careful sneaking, avoidance of all guards, and one mishap with a silenced pistol.  We've managed to secure copies of Splinter Cell Conviction on the Xbox 360 and PC for quite a bit less than MSRP.  How much?  

This last few months of gaming have been kind to retro co-op games, and I can think of a few warm-n-fuzzies I've felt recently. This weeks On The Download will aim to spark a mushy retromance with some of the recent vintage downloadables. We also want to hear what you'd like to see remade.

If you want to be one of the first lucky few to get your hands on Splinter Cell Conviction's co-op mode almost two weeks before the game launches, you'll have to head to Gamestop in a select few cities for an exclusive Co-Op Event. 

Microsoft has made a somewhat shocking announcement, they've more than doubled the largest available hard drive for the Xbox 360, yet they've kept the price the same.  Available next week, the 250 GB Hard Drive Kit will set you back $130.  This hard drive was previously only available in special edition bundles like the Splinter Cell Conviction or Modern Warfare 2 bundle.

Late last year, we told you about Din's Curse, an indie action/rpg. Firmly in the hallowed Diablo 2 style of gameplay, Din's Curse adds to the formula in a few intriguing ways. The standard class/skill system is tweaked to allow hybrid classes, with well over a hundred different combinations. The storyline, too, is innovative, and will vary based on the player's actions, which means no two games will play the same.

The last of the genders for our Diablo 3 characters have been revealed, this time the female version of the Witch Doctor graces us with her creepy presence.  So far we've seen the Wizard, Monk, and Barbarian.  There's still one entire class that's yet to be revealed for the game, both male and female versions.  Along with the above concept art we've received a fresh batch of screenshots as well.
