Last year, Blizzard released the limited time co-op "Uprising" event for Overwatch. We had mixed feelings on the matter so we were a bit skeptical when it was recently announced that a new limited time co-op event, "Retribution," would be arriving this month. Turns out Blizzard really did learn some lessons from the last go around and this new event has some good hooks in it for all you co-op enthusiasts out there.
I loved Subset Games' FTL, and the only thing about it I didn't like was that I couldn't bring in some friends to help crew the ship and save the galaxy. I'm guessing I wasn't the only one that felt that way because Undercrewed, a new co-op title that's currently in development, seems to be drawing some strong inspiration from not only FTL, but also Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.
Steredenn is a shoot ‘em up with Roguelike elements released way back in 2015. It has always been a single-player shooter, but that recently changed with the free ‘Binary Stars’ update. Thanks to this surprisingly great update, the Xbox One and Steam versions of Steredenn now support 2-player local co-op (just like the Nintendo Switch version)!
The Co-Opticrew has quite a few plans to engage in gaming of the "tabletop" variety this weekend, and I simply couldn't be happier. There are few things in this world that can top a nice night spent with friends, drinks and snacks in hand, as you huddle around a kitchen table and find out the fate of your adventuring party/warring countries/what-have-you. I'll be demanding nothing less than a full report of these escapades on my desk by Monday morning.
Ghost Recon Wildlands isn't he only Ghost Recon title to see some new content. The PC modding community often extend the life of many classic games by adding graphical or UI features that many players wish the game included to begin with, or adding new content altogether. ApexMods has released a 30 Gb mod today, titled "Heroes Unleashed," for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon that adds new physics, new AI behavior, and "hardcore realism" to the game.
In more great news from Microsoft, 16 original Xbox games are being added to the Xbox One’s Backwards Compatibility list. All of the titles either need to be purchased and downloaded through the Xbox Marketplace or played with a physical copy in the Xbox One. The first batch of 8 games is set to arrive on April 17th and the later 8 on April 26th. While a number of the games feature some sort of multiplayer, it’s the April 26th release of Star Wars Battlefront (2004) and Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) that feature the Co-Op we’re most excited about.

In a recent tweet from Eric Barone, the developer of the wonderful Stardew Valley, Co-Op is set to find its way into the game officially in ‘About a month’. But that tweet does note that the release of the update is based around ‘all going well’.
Bungie announced last night the latest addition to the Destiny 2 family. The next expansion, named "Warmind," launches May 8th across all platforms. If you're looking for a reason to come back to Destiny 2, "Warmind" might be your ticket for re-entry.
Secret Base's co-op beat-em-up, Devil's Dare, is making its way onto the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch today as Streets of Red: Devil's Dare Deluxe. The title features all the same great action as the original PC version, with the added benefit of two new unlockable characters.
EXOR Studios has announced that their 2017 title X-Morph: Defense will be getting a physical release exclusively for the PS4. In a message to Co-Optimus EXOR Studios said “Our physical release will include the European Assault DLC and all the latest updates on disc. The Limited Edition box set includes game disc (region free / reversible cover), soundtrack CD, numbered certificate and collector's box. The game will be limited to 3000pcs and sold exclusively at online retailer Play-Asia.com.”.
Closing out our trio of games from Monday was SCALPERS: Turtle and the Moonshine Gang. We looked at this game a year ago when it was still in Early Access and with its recent full release, we thought we'd hop back in to see how things have progressed. The good news is, I think we got better at the game? The bad news... it's got its share of rough spots.
