The RTS meets zombie survival title, Kingdom Wars 2: Battles, will be getting a free update sometime soon. Titled "Undead Rising," the expansion will largely involve some reworking of the single-player campaign (along with a few other tweaks), but it will also include some additions to the co-op Survival mode.
Back in the heyday of people constructing death machines and pitting them against one another (early 2000s), developer Gabriel Entertainment made a video game based on the same premise. Now, 15 years later, the third entry in that series, Robot Arena III, will be making its debut on Steam this month.
The recently released Battleborn is a divisive game amongst the staff. For some, they simply are looking for more of a Borderlands type experience. For others, they'd rather something a bit cleaner than the mashup of genres that Gearbox have created. Still there are others that are playing it that love the game, characters, and style that are on display.
This week a new version of DOOM is released, and by all accounts it looks to capture the feel of the original. And really, if you've followed the mod scene at all for id's classic shooter, you know there's one out there called Brutal DOOM. From what we've seen of the new game, these two look very close in terms of style and substance.
Ubisoft and developer Redstorm have released the details of the next bit of DLC, Operation Dust Line, for Rainbow 6 Siege. We knew that two new operators, Blackbeard and Valkyrie, would be added with this content, and in a live stream last Friday, it was revealed a new map, Border, will be included as well.
Initially released as a single-player only game, Hyper Light Drifter now supports two player couch co-op. This feature was a stretch goal for their Kickstarter campaign, which launched in September 2013, and while it didn't make it into the title for its initial release at the end of March, the developers have been working on getting it implemented into the game for the past month.
Deep Silver revives their initial foray into the world of the undead with Dead Island: Definitive Collection. Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide will be together in a nice little polished package with all of the DLC included. In addition to the perks of being able to play these games on next gen systems, there will be improvements to textures, lighting, and shading. Anti-aliasing will also help the game run smoothly.
Alienation hit the PlayStation 4 last week, and last night Jason and I took some time to check out the game's online co-op mode. The game should feel familiar to those of you who have played Housemarque's other co-op shooter, Dead Nation. But this isn't simply a palette swap of aliens for zombies.

Especially on PC, where through May 11th Origin has the price reduced 60% to only $23.99 (cheapest ever by $6). There's even a free 4-hour trial for PC gamers if you'd rather get your toes wet before cannonballing into the action. The Deluxe has a similar percentage price break.
The next entry in the Call of Duty series was recently announced (subtitled "Infinite Warfare") and in a recent livestream event, Activision confirmed that the campaign would be single-player only. The silver lining, I suppose, is that you will be able to team up with friends to take on zombies, as you have for the past couple Call of Duty games.
May the 4th marks a special day for Star Wars fans. TT Games and Warner Bros joined in the festivities with some news about he next LEGO game, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It appears you'll be able to play some of the adventures that are mentioned in the movie, but never shown, like Han and Chewie capturing the Rathars.
