To much rejoicing, Dark Souls 3 came out last month. That means it was a month focused on the dark and gritty series with plenty of discussion as to its merits of cooperative implementation. It was a pretty quiet month otherwise, but still you may have missed some of the news of upcoming games. May is looking strong with Battleborn kicking off the month.
It was a somewhat lean year for co-op at PAX East 2016, but SMG Studio combated that trend with their upcoming game, Death Squared. SMG reached out to us and let us know they’d be thrilled if I could stop by and have a look at their indie puzzle game playable with up to 4-player co-op. I was more than happy to oblige. I swung by SMG St...
Larian Studios’ Divinity: Original Sin stands out as one of the best RPGs I’ve played over the past few years. When I heard they were going to be at PAX East 2016 showing off Divinity: Original Sin 2, I knew I had to get my hands on it. These are my hands-on impressions.
Battleborn's open beta has ended, leaving just one big event on the horizon: release day! The game is set to launch on May 3 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and this launch trailer will remind you why you and your co-op buddies should call in sick this Tuesday.
Rogue Stormers is a game that feels like the product of two different minds. One wanted a platform shooter with RPG mechanics, the other wanted a difficult shooter that was reminiscent of Contra. The result, unfortunately, is a mess of both....
Finally out of Early Access, Rogue Stormers - formerly Dieselstormers, is here. It's a game we saw not only switch names, but switch genres. Now a more focused action, platformer, rogue-like game - it features four player online co-op play through various random levels as you avoid the goop and destroy the orks.
Haven't gotten around to indulging in Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 yet? EA is giving you a pretty good excuse to set aside a couple of afternoons. From now until May 10, Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners can grab a beefy ten hour free trial, plenty of time to indulge in some superb co-op action!
Developer Digital Extremes hosted a panel at PAX East last weekend where they talked a little about the state of Warframe, the free-to-play action MMO with space ninjas, and teased some new content that they have planned for this year. Top of the list was a new Warframe, a new prime frame, new content that revolves around the Grineer, and a new competitive mode, Lunaro.
At PAX East 2016, I had a chance to try out the upcoming Shadow Warrior 2, the sequel to the 2013 Shadow Warrior reboot. These are my hands-on impressions.
Neon Chrome, the cyberpunk top-down shooter from 10tons Ltd, is now available on Steam. Players will have to fight their way through a procedurally generated "megastructure" in an attempt to take on and bring down the Overseer.
The drip feed approach to releasing backward compatible games on the Xbox One is like a new form of water torture, but at least it offers a nice surprise as a game you forgot you own pops up on the console. For co-op fans, four out of the five games released this week are just for you; namely The Cave, Double Dragon Neon, Altered Beast and Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime.
More free games are on the way for Xbox owners, all thanks to Games with Gold. Four titles were recently announced for the Month of may, including a couple of old classics and a nice co-op strategy game.
