It's been teased and bandied about for some time now, and at long last, the biggest update to Destiny has arrived. All whopping 17+ Gb of it. This update undoubtedly includes much of the content for the Taken King expansion, which is due to arrive next week, but the big focus is the changes it makes to the game starting today. Let's review, shall we?
I am a fan of the puzzle/platformer Chariot. The wife and I put in a good chunk of time playing through the game on our PS4; working together to not only get every collectible we could but in some cases to just make it through a level. So I'm glad to hear that it will be getting some DLC love, even if it is for the Xbox One version only.
So, the core version of Guild Wars 2 is now, as ArenaNet puts it, Play for Free. That's the good kind of free that really means free, not the kind of free that involves microtransactions for everything from equipping weapons to in-game sneezing. You can download the client and start playing the core version of Guild Wars 2 right away. Or tomorrow, or whenever you feel like it, really. It's free, baby!
Nostalgia is big business. And honestly, I don't mind. A lot of indie studios are forging new territory by jumping back a few decades in their game design aesthetics, creating throwback titles that tug at the heartstrings by reminding us of the days of old. PolyKid's 3D platformer Poi is just such a game.
Local co-op is great. You get to sit down with friends, play some lag-free games, and save your best curses for online co-op. The catch is that you have to haul everybody over to your place to get said gaming sessions going. Worse still, you usually have to put on pants for those sessions, and that's just not right. Good thing Nvidia is working on something that might fix that limitation.

The still-new Xbox One Backward Compatibility program tiptoed into preview mode recently, giving Xbox One owners the chance to play select Xbox and Xbox 360 games without resorting to eBay. A list of almost two dozen compatible titles has been released, and our favorite guns 'n loot RPG shooter Borderlands is the star of the show.
The Roaring Twenties were, by most accounts, a pretty swell time to be alive in America. Jazz music was growing, women were becoming more important members of society, and it seemed like everybody had plenty of dough to toss around. The recently funded Tower 57 recognizes this positivity, and asks, "What if, instead of that, everything was awful all of the time?" As it turns out, the answer looks pretty rad.
One of my favorite PC games growing up was flight simulators. Not the true-to-life ones where your entire keyboard corresponded to some particularly function but the dog fighting kind, like X-Wing or Wing Commander. Sky Rogue, out now on Steam Early Access, appears to offer the same kind of action with the added benefit of local co-op.
