You may have noticed a few posts lately regarding Extra Life, the charity gaming marathon to benefit children's hospitals. Nintendo went ahead and announced the release date for the much-anticipated 3D Streets of Rage. The portable two player brawler drops on the e-shop in the US December 19, just in time to pick up a few copies as digital stocking stuffers. New things have been released for Zachtronics' steampunk strategy game Ironclad Tactics! The free update includes a "new game plus" campaign, deck sharing via URL export, and an increased AP rate in co-op for more exciting battles. Oh, and bug fixes and the like, but that's never as exciting as things with exclamation marks.
When did expansion packs die out as a species? Aside from the occasional Blizzard published addon, few bastions of this once staple of video gaming content remain. Now it's all about annual releases and DLC. Luckily for us, EA decided that the future is too important to entrust to a meager DLC download and harken back to the days of expansion packs. Cities of Tomorrow for SimCity, launching November 12th, teases its upcoming arrival with a cute commercial detailing the two factions at odds in the new game.
