New Dodonpachi Shmup Coming to Xbox 360 in Japan Next Year

Japanese shoot-em-up makers CAVE have recently expressed interest in leaving the console market for the mobile market's greener pastures. Yet it turns out they have another Xbox 360 release in store for us after all. Dodonpachi Saidaioujou (a title which is extremely unpleasant to type and has no direct English translation) , the latest in CAVE's long-running Dodonpachi series, will make the transition from arcades to 360 next year.

Happy Wars to Happily become the Xbox 360's First Free-to-Play Game

On PC and mobile phones, freemium or free-to-play games are all the rage. Freemium games cost nothing up front, instead making their money from optional microtranactions. For whatever reason, console manufacturers Microsoft and Sony have only really started opening up to the free-to-play business model this year, with multiple titles in the works for both systems. Now Microsoft has announced that massive online action game Happy Wars will be the very first Xbox 360 freemium game when it launches in fall 2012.

More Bloody Screens from Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2

These new Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 screens feature four new playable characters. Yuda, Fudu, Shachi, and Shuu will each be making an appearance in the sequel to the Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage. The super-violent, ultra-cheesy, so-bad-it's-almost-good beat'em up did well enough to earn a second installment. As flawed as the first game was fans still flocked to it. You can't keep a good fanatic down.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Launch Trailer Features A Vicious Boss Battle

They asked for it. Now they have it. The Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition is now available on PC. The dark fantasy game known for its punishing difficulty is now available to the mouse and keyboard crew. The Prepare to Die edition will also feature around 10 hours of extra content which will cover the "Artorias of the Abyss" story line. Console fans may be tempted to double dip on their purchases. For those poor souls whose PC can't handle the load, never fear. The extra content will be coming to consoles in the form of DLC later this year.
