As a former mega-hardcore Magic: The Gathering player, the Duels of the Planeswalkers series is a bit of an odd animal for me. While the games play smoothly, with a great interpretation of the Magic ruleset and offer plenty of modes (and co-op!), the lack of custom deckbuilding has always kept me from really digging in.
The Astro A30s are my go to headset, but I've been eyeing up the A40s for quite some time. Now with the Astro A50s on the horizon, basically a wireless version of the A40s, it might be time to finally upgrade my ear cans.
Nintendo was all about the Wii U this year, showing off the capability of the system and the software to back it up. Since Mike was up super early to make it to the press conference and get his Miyamoto street pass Locke and Nick gave their predictions on what Nintendo would bring. Three of us played Borderlands 2 at E3 2012. Mike and I managed a co-op session together, with myself as the Commando while he tried out the Assassin. Andrew checked out the Gunzerker a little later on. Here's our impressions of the mission that was demoed and the classes we chose.
SteelSeries, makers of gaming peripherals, came out swinging at E3 2012 this year with five product announcements all centered around partnerships with groups and games within the industry. We got some eyes on time with all of them at the show and there's definitely a commitment to quality and detail here. Let's look at what's available.
After the press conferences and during the show, the Co-Opticrew kept commenting on how many games coming out this year have a bow in them. It seemed everywhere we turned we saw another iteration of a bow weapon in a game. We're not talking just about hunting games, we're talking AAA titles like Crysis 3, Farcry 3, Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell: Black List. There was another trend too - helicopters. Whether it was Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Resident Evil 6 or others - the bladed aerial vehicle was definitely a trend. Some games even managed to include BOTH.
It's time for another Beyond Co-Op, the weekly column that looks at what's going on in the gaming industry regarding games that are perhaps just a little bit co-op challenged. It's okay, we love them just the same. As we all know, this week was a big week, what with E3 and all. There are doubtless many other stories that are equally important from this week, but these were a few that caught my eye.
Cadenza Interactive will be joining the likes of Crate Entertainment, Double Fine, and countless others as they seek some additional funding for their upcoming "six-axis" co-op shooter, Retrovirus. In a press release sent to us, Dylan Barker, one of Cadenza's designers, let us know that they're officially hopping on the Kickstarter bandwagon, and they've got at least one reward tier that's geared towards the co-op loving gamer.

The PC version of Ghost Recon Future Soldier has gotten a slight delay. Originally slated for June 12th, it'll now grace your favorite PC on June 28th. The game was released a few weeks ago on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to mostly positive reviews. Ghost Recon Future Soldier features a four player co-op campaign, playable online and a four player co-op survival mode called Guerilla.
As more and more exciting co-op news from E3 rolls in, we take a look at an indie co-op game that doesn't have new graphics, isn't based upon an award-winning franchise, or even 3D. It just throws hordes of enemies at you and your partner until you can no longer survive. What more could you want?
