Halo: Reach Coming to Games on Demand

For those of you who hate going outside, refuse to accept physical mail, and love being six months late to the party (and no, I'm not talking about PC gamers), Halo: Reach is coming to Games on Demand March 15th.  Halo: Reach earned our prestigious Co-Op Game of the Year award. The price is not yet posted on Major Nelson's blog, which means it's sure to rankle some gamers.  I don't know about you, but I hate being rankled.

XBL Deal of the Week Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light 50% Off

The Xbox Live Deal of the Week offers a great co-op game at a great price.  Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is 50% off.  You can pick up the two player co-op title for 600 Microsoft points, which translates to about $7.50.  We gave the isometric action/puzzler a 4.5 out of 5 in our Co-Op Review.  Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light also happened to win our coveted Best Downloadable Co-Op Title of the Year Award.  A slew of DLC is available for half off as well.

New Gatling Gears Screenshots

Last month we had a hands-on preview of the promising Gatling Gears.  It's a twin stick shooter that has some RPG elements, plus two player local and online co-op.    You will pick up "gears" throughout the thirty-level campaign and spend them on upgrades for your battle chassis. You can then pilot your own customizable mech in your friend's game.  Today we have some new screen shots showing plenty of destruction and explosions.  As big twin stick shooter fans, Gatling Gears is one to check out when it becomes available this spring on XBLA and PSN.

iOS Game Tilt to Live Gets "Viva la Co-Op" Mode

As Apple's iPhone and iPad get more and more games, it's only natural that more and more co-op titles are in the mix.  One such game, adding in a co-op mode via expansion, is Tilt to Live.  As you can tell from the screenshot above, Tilt to Live has a definite Geometry Wars feel to it.  And believe me when I say, that is a very good thing.  The new expansion, appropriately titled "Viva la Co-Op", allows for two players to connect via local wi-fi or Bluetooth.  One player controls the motion of the ship, while the other is in charge of the turret itself.  Tilt to Live will set you back $2.99, and the expansion clocks in at an affordable 99 cents.  Check out the trailer below.

Gears of War 3 to be Loaded with Easter Eggs

The first "Easter Egg" was coined after a hidden message was left in the game Adventure on Atari in 1979.  It was named such after the Easter holiday where people would give elaborate and often expensive eggs that contained a hidden surprise inside.  Easter eggs are a big part of gaming today, with many games giving references to modern day events, nods to other games, or hiding pictures of the developers buried deep in a level.  Gear of War 3 designer Cliff Bleszinski thinks the hidden gems are not only fun, but could help promote and draw attention to a game.
