We recently received a tip from former Co-Optimus editor extraordinaire, Katrina Pawlowski, concerning a hot new indie game. SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance is a four player cooperative twin-stick shooter - in space! We've mentioned it from time to time. It's being developed by a few current and former members of the Co-Optimus staff*, along with some other people who I'm sure are equally great.
Blizzard have released a new animated short which sets up part of the story for Diablo 3, which, in case you didn't know - comes out NEXT WEEK. Long before the creation of Sanctuary, the Eternal Conflict between angels and demons raged on for untold millennia, this 7 minute video tells that story. The short was created in part by Peter Chung, of Aeon Flux fame.
The next Sim City game will launch in early 2013, according to an Electronic Arts earnings call with investors that took place yesterday. The publisher has now confirmed its launch for 'Q4 fiscal year 2013', which is real calendar time for January to March 2013.

The Ghost Recon Future Soldier hype express has been gunning full throttle for some weeks now, as you would expect from a game out on May 22nd in the US and May 25th in the UK. Most of the trailers have been on the technical side, showing off aspects such as the guns, combat or multiplayer. This new trailer forgoes all this and sets the mood of the game as a badly beaten man tells his tale of the Ghosts.
Attention Sega Genesis fans! I know you're out there. There's a new collection of Sega classics available on Steam right now, and the price is hard to beat. You can pick up some good ol' co-op titles like Golden Axe 3 or Streets of Rage 3. A new trailer has been released for Heroes of Ruin, the action/RPG coming to the Nintendo 3DS this summer. The game features four player online co-op with drop-in and drop-out support through the entire campaign. Players can choose from one of four characters based in a universe that combines modern weaponary and fantasy weaponary.
A Valley Without Wind is difficult to describe because it shatters any confines of genre. It can be described as rogue-like, or even a platformer. It actually feels like a dungeon crawler, but it simultaneously acts like an adventure game. There's magic, mining, and exploration and when you try and wrap your head around it...well, you may end up with a headache. All of these influences come together to form a Frankenstein monster of a game that only a certain type of gamer will appreciate.
