For many of us, Capcom's announcement of the return of Frank West in DR2: OTR was greeted with a resounding sigh. Apparently, our genuine lack of enthusiasm was misplaced. Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is more than just a retail packaging of bloated DLC. This new iteration has a host of improvements over the already excellent Dead Rising 2. Best of all, you'll play as Chuck Greene when you join someone else's game. Yay! No more clones!
Okay, it's a new week. Time to shake off September 6th's new release hangover. I trust you've all conquered each of those games as well as acquired 100% of the Achievements and Trophies. Time to move on. This week we have some fine downloadable titles, along with a Kinect title from Twisted Pixel, and a JRPG.
Saints Row: The Third is quickly shaping up to be one of the biggest and most diverse co-op titles this holiday season. We've seen some insane looking videos for the game, and the latest trailer adds to that. In it we get introduced to a group called The Deckers, these cyber punk hackers seem to have created their own TRON like virtual reality in which the Saints have to hack into to get all their money the group conveniently stole from them. That's a kind of mission you just don't see in any open world games now a days.
There's this game series called Dragon Quest. You may have heard of it. Okay, tongue-in-cheek attitude aside, it's true - the upcoming Dragon Quest X will have online co-op. Players will be able to form parties to go forth and quest for dragons. Yes, it sounds like it'll basically be an MMO. It also has a somewhat ridiculously long subtitle: Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online (which translates to Waking of the Five Tribes Online).
It was earlier this year we saw the reveal of Bunch of Heroes, a cartoonish looking four player co-op twin stick shooter for the PC. The game features four playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, perfect for co-op gameplay. Today the game's developer, NGD Studios, have announced a release date - September 21st. To celebrate the announcement the team has put out a new trailer for the game.
On September 18th, the Android powered Sony Xperia Play 4G will launch on AT&T's network for $50 on two year contract. While the device has already seen a release on Verizon for $200 (later cut to $99) - the AT&T release marks the cheapest version of the phone that is focused on gaming that's to the partnership with PlayStation.
It seems like less than a month ago we were reporting about Trenched getting renamed to Iron Brigade outside of the US. Hey, it was less than a month ago! And now we disocover that the Iron Brigade name is actually quite infectious. The US version of Trenched will lose its original name in favor of the international version in order to maintain multiplayer compatibility across all versions as well as to reduce brand confusion going forward.
Screens and Info of the long rumored Syndicate game have surfaced early on EA's Origin service before quickly being pulled. As with anything on the internet, once released, it's there forever no matter what you try to do. A NeoGaf poster managed to snag some screens and info from the game and it's all good news for co-op fans.

The fall season is upon us, but the staff have just wrapped up the remanents of the summer months. On the plate today is the Fall's first big release, Deus Ex: Human Revolution as well as a few other gems. Take a gander and see if you missed any gems.

Here it is folks. The tsunami of video game goodness that is the fall release schedule is crashing down upon us. Either we will drown in all the co-op goodness, or we will manage to hang ten, ride the big kahuna, or otherwise stretch a metaphor. The big releases all make appearances on the staff list this week, but the twin titans, Dead Island and Space Marine are everywhere you look. So grab a boltgun and watch out for that zombie!
