Free to play games seem to be all the rage these days...and with good reason. Sega's join the foray with a free to play game that only requires a web browser and java installed called Spiral Knights. The stylized game puts players in control of their own knight in a isometric Action/RPG. Best of all the game supports four player co-op to complete quests, kill monsters and solve puzzles - many of the missions are designed just for co-op play.

Bulletstorm's new DLC launches today. Titled "Gun Sonata," the new content has two new Echoes Mode maps and three new Anarchy Mode maps. There are also two new leash colors for your customization pleasure, "Flamingo," and "Pulp." We liked Bulletstorm when it was released a few months ago, giving it a 4 out of 5 in our Co-Op Review. Capcom's big trade show, cunningly called "Captivate," wrapped last week. One of the big announcements was that our favorite war-photojournalist-turned-zombie-stomper will return for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. From what we can gather from the press release, the game will be a sort of Dead Rising 2: Redux, where Frank is the main character, instead of Chuck Greene. If you watch the following video, it looks like that's exactly what's going on. Oh, and Frank seems to have packed on a few pounds.
While there have definitely been a few Xbox Live Indie Games we've looked at over the past couple weeks that have invoked a very nostalgic feeling in our hearts, this week's entries are the closest to faithfully recreating our co-op experience from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.
Magicka's first expansion pack is out now on the PC featuring four player co-op. Titled Magicka: Vietnam, the content is just as zany as it sounds - four wizards dropped in a Vietnamese jungle armed with machine guns and napalm strikes.
White Knight Chronicles is getting a sequel in North America, but it won't be coming as a Sony published title. Instead D3 Publisher, who recently published God Eater Burst and the upcoming Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, will be handling the publishing duties of White Knight Chronicles 2.
We brought you news of Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive for PSP a few months ago. The Playstation Portable title was released late last month. In addition to a story mode consisting of more than a dozen missions, the team-based action/fighter lets you and three friends partner up via Ad Hoc co-op in Free Mission Mode. Special combo moves that require more than one player to activate are included, as well as bonus missions for die-hard fans to unlock cool stuff from the show. You’d think after six main series entries and several spinoffs to the Dynasty Warriors series, Koei would grant us our PhDs in Asian History with a focus on the Later Han Dynasty, but alas, they’ve decided we need one more refresher course and thus, we have Dynasty Warriors 7.
Majesco's Blood Rayne franchise is being resurrected as a downloadable title. The company has recently announced Blood Rayne: Betrayal, which will be a 2D platformer, according to Eurogamer.net. This will be change from what was a third-person action game filled with over-the-top gore and innuendo. According to the press release, "Rayne teams up with a mysterious new friend to stop an evil vampire massacre." Does this mean co-op play? Hopefully. You can check out a new teaser trailer after the break. Warning! The trailer won't reveal much of anything. Blood Rayne: Betrayal will release on the XBLA and PSN later this summer.
Looking for a new game to brighten your day? Nothing catching your eye? The second week of April may not be known for its blockbuster releases, but you can still get your new game on. This week has a little hack in slash, a little rhythm, and a little tower defense. Oh yeah, and one of my favorite Atari 2600 games has been remade as an anime-style shooter, but I'm not bitter about it.
