Good afternoon, all. Summer, and the suppressing, all-consuming heat it brings with it, is finally upon us. In order to beat the heat, a few of the Co-Opticrew have found a simple solution - just straight up leave the planet. With the new Destiny 2 expansion out, there's a whole new set of loot out there to toil away for, and toil we will. At least it'll be in the cool comfort of our own houses.
The latest iteration of Sid Meier's global strategy game received a relatively positive reception back when it launched in the fall of 2016, but it was still plagued by deficiencies in the series' oft-criticized AI opponents. Over time, though, the Civilization VI developers have worked to alleviate these issues, currently culminating in the game's "Spring 2018 Update", out today.
In a move that proves developer Overkill lives up to their name, Payday 2 received MORE content as part of the recent “Spring Break” event (why they didn’t title it ‘Spring Break-In’ is beyond me). In the Henry’s Rock Heist, players will be able to break into a giant storage facility and steal some giant gold boxes. It seems right that the heist is named after Mr. Jones (his name is actually Henry, Indiana was the dog) but, unfortunately, this event appears to only be available on PC.
Yesterday, Mouldy Toof released the latest DLC for their prison escape simulator, The Escapists 2. Titled "Dungeons and Duct Tape," the newest jail from which you'll have to escape has a medieval theme to it, including a jaunty feathered cap!
Earlier this week, Nintendo finally revealed their plans for their online subscription service. Dubbed "Nintendo Switch Online," this service will be required when it launches in September in order to enjoy online co-op with friends for current titles, like Splatoon 2, and future ones as well. Other than the official name, that's nothing particularly new. What is new is that getting that subscription will also give you access to a library of classic NES titles that will include online capabilities for those that support multiplayer.
During a developer livestream last week, Ubisoft Montpellier showed off more of Beyond Good and Evil 2, perhaps one of the most anticipated video game sequels ever. While the reveal of the title itself was a big surprise during last year's E3, we here at Co-Optimus got a nice surprise during that livestream when the devs (finally) discussed the co-op gameplay... sort of.

Some of you may remember a couple weeks back when we posted about an interesting new co-op title that's in development, Undercrewed. This FTL meets Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime game piqued our interest, so we sat down with developer David Strachan to discuss some of the nuts-and-bolts, as well as where he hopes to go next with its development.
