To know your co-op partner, you must know yourself first.

This Week in Co-Op: Finding a Middle Ground in Co-Op

Once again, my main co-op partner in crime, Richie, and I decided to switch things up from our usual routine and give a completely different game a go for once (we seldom break away from GTA Online or Awesomenauts these days). Since we couldn't decide on what to play, we tried to come to find a game that would satisfy both our likings. After much deliberation, we landed on an old favorite: Perfect Dark HD, mainly because we had the game sitting in our backlog for quite some time. Though I still don't know what happened to my original N64 cartridge of Perfect Dark, we both had downloaded the XBLA version (developed by 4J Studios) for an incredibly low price.

White to black and back again

Ikaruga Soars onto Steam Today

A mere thirteen years after its original release on the Sega Saturn, the two-player shmup Ikaruga blazes an alternating black and white trail onto Steam today for $9.99. Now, those underprivileged folks who never knew the magic of the Saturn can squeal with glee at the high flying, polarity-based gameplay Ikaruga offers up. "What's a Sega Saturn?" is also an acceptable response.

League of Legends Flirts with Six on Six Action

In a move purists would faint at the mere idea of, League of Legends is putting more M in your MOBA. Starting the 20th of this month, the boundary pushers at Riot are incorporating a new game mode which shatters the conventional five on five experience and bumps the player count up to six participants per team. I know what you're thinking. If they tamper with the tried and true MOBA formula, what other sort of values are they willing to cast aside in the name of "progress"?

First Step: Raise your blade to salute the shambling ghoul before you

Hellraid's Combat Inspired by Real World Swordplay

Techland, the developers of the upcoming 4 player co-op hack-and-slash-a-thon Hellraid, recently spent some time brushing up on the medieval art of "hitting people with sharp things." The animators and programmers met up with ancient weapons expert ARMA-PL in an effort to provide Hellraid's combat with a greater sense of realism. "Realism" here describes what they learned about medieval weaponry, and not practicing to combat hordes of undead and demonic sorcerers.

Trine 2 Co-Op Stream: Extremely Magical Puzzle Solving Part 3

Locke, Mike and Nick continue their adventures through Trine 2 - the co-op puzzle platformer out on PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and Xbox 360. Every time we fire up the game to begin a stream it always starts the same way - "wow, this is gorgeous!" Perhaps the game's graphics are, but sometimes our brute force physics puzzle solving isn't exactly what I'd call beautiful.
